Thank you for this! Despite having a very robust Pinterest page of looks, I was still struggling to refine all of it into three words. Your "preppy, tailored, utilitarian" is perhaps the perfect combination for me (I even recently pinned that Bottega runway look!). I am a child of the '90s though, so I feel like I may need to sneak that in somewhere...
Thank you, Allison! This really clicked for me. I would say my three words are 'minimal', 'refined' and 'edgy' and when I looked at my moodboards, I have already seen that my way of 'refined' is nineties elegance these days and 'edgy' is represented by leather and sharp silhouettes. Your 'sharp - 90s - neutral' moodboard just brought it all together!
I agree that style words should be something fun to play with and not limiting. I’ve had trouble coming up with my own words but I looking at my outfits I would say quirky, bohemian, feminine. I think I have aspirational words though, like I want to dress a bit more minimalist but then somehow always take a turn into chaos and pattern before I know it 😂. So my aspirational words are sleek, minimal, and asymmetrical.
Wow, I think I just worked something out for myself in this comment! I’m going to write down those aspirational words and look at them more when I’m getting dressed.
